Heidi, I can't imagine how socially debilitating it must be for you because of your extreme shyness. It must be hellish.
So imagine my excitement when I came across this recent study! I thought of you immediately and, being the goodhearted soul that I am, wanted to pass it on to you so you could order a truckload of oxytocin. Worth a try, no?
"They have found that by inhaling a chemical (oxytocin) naturally produced in the brain, known as the "cuddle chemical" or "love hormone," people can be made to trust strangers. It could now be developed to treat social disorders.
Tests are under way to see if the hormones, contained in a nasal spray, could overcome feelings of awkwardness and anxiety felt by many in social situations such as parties."
Details of the Swiss study are published in the journal, Neuron.

So, Heidi, good luck with the oxytocin. Don't forget to let me know how it's working for ya, okay?

"people can be made to trust strangers."
Strangers aren't the problem.
